More than 100 pharmacies across the county are already set up as collection points for free rapid Covid-19 tests. From next week, people will also be able to go to a local pharmacy to take a test on site.
Further pharmacies are joining the list of those offering Covid testing to make it even easier for people without symptoms to get their free twice-weekly test. As well as pharmacies offering rapid testing, people can still collect tests from PCR testing centres in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Stroud or order kits online for home delivery.
With an extensive community network of rapid testing locations now in place across the county, the community testing centres set up at the height of demand will, as we move towards a more normal way of life, return to business as usual as neighbourhood cafes and community facilities.
Taking a test at a pharmacy is an ideal way for people who haven’t taken a Covid test before to get used to how it works with guidance from trained pharmacists, who will also take care of processing the test and registering the results.
The tests are free and quick, with results coming back in 30 minutes.
There is no need to wait at the pharmacy for your results as these will be sent directly to you via text or email.
You do not have to book your rapid Covid test at a pharmacy, but it is recommended that you telephone in advance to check availability.
